School Council

Reviewed the PVSchools School Council Handbook and the NCHS School Council Bylaws 2024-2025.

Reviewed the "School Councils: Making Shared Decisions" document.

• Reviewed the "Approval for Use of Tax Credit Monies 2024-2025" document.

• Practice evacuation and lockdown drills.
• ID/yearbook pictures.
• Booster meeting.
• StuGo spirit week (color days).
• Fall sports have started. Faculty and staff tailgate this Friday, 9/27.
• PAC (Principal Advisory Council) meeting (four reps from each grade level).
• This year we have two main focuses:
  • Creating positive culture on campus: RISE
    • Increase RISE economy classroom menus.
    • 90 percent attendance.
    • Passing all classes.
  • Instructional focuses:
    • PLC – Identify 5-8 essential standards, all students show growth to all students.
    • ACT prep and AZELLA prep.
    • Increase our college and career indicators.

  • One rep from each grade level should attend.
• 9/25: Superintendent Student Advisory Council
  • Superintendent to meet with principals and one student rep (Kelli CaroMolina, executive president).

  • School Messenger might have text option. Ms. Loker will research.

• Basketball team made playoffs. Eliminated in first round, but three basketball players made All-Region team!
• Monday, 2/5/2024: Spring sports started.
  • Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Track, and Girls Flag Football (new!) – just playing PV teams now (and a tournament). Joining AIA in future. Fifty girls came out for Flag Football team!
• Thursday, 2/15: Parent conferences and FAFSA night. 
  • About 100 families. Dinner donated by PV Education Foundation.
• Friday, 2/23: ASVAB for juniors.
  • Comprehensive interest profile. Due to limited staffing on test administrator’s end, could only test 200 students. Will test remaining students March 4. Can retest other students too at that time.
• Friday, 2/23, and Saturday, 2/24: Theatre's “1984” performance.
  • Quite a few staff members. Mr. Bush does a fabulous job
• Tuesday, 2/27: Four students attended Student Voices at Shadow Mountain with Mrs. Ruttenberg.

• Wednesday, 2/28: Superintendent Student Advisory Council.
  • Student Body President and Ms. Loker will go to District.
• 3/4 through 3/7: District Field Day at NCHS.
  • AVID and other students are volunteering to help.
• Tuesday, 3/5: PAC (Principal Advisory Council).
• Tuesday, 3/5: End of grading period.
• 3/6 through 3/7: Read Across America. 
  • Mr. Hines's 9th-grade AVID classes will go to Echo Mountain Primary, Eagle Ridge Elementary, and Campo Bello.
• 3/11 through 3/15: Spring Break.
• 3/18 through 3/22: AzSci Testing.
• Saturday, 3/23: Senior purple stipe painting day.
• Friday, 3/29: Spring recess day.
• Wednesday, 4/3: ACT and Aspire testing.
• Wednesday, 4/10, at 6:30 p.m.: "The Poisoning of America: Vapes, BHO, and Fentanyl" presentation at Horizon High.
• Continuous Improvement Plan: Identify areas of growth and improvement. Request feedback from different focus groups. Send out the Community CNA form. One group is School Council. Data is taken and work should be done with state and federal programs to focus on things to work on (e.g. Reading & Math).

• Hoopcoming was successful. Didn’t get decorations ordered in time, but did look good with what we had.
• Planning senior picnic ($8 for package deal) and spirit weeks (three coming). Next week is the first one: Dr. Seuss themed.
• Senior picnic – on practice baseball field.  Reveal prom theme.
• Assembly and other spirit weeks coming up later.
• Friday, 4/26: Prom.
• Working on graduation. Finalizing things. Graduation quote and song settled.
